About Us

I’m Tanner, the chicken whisperer behind ChickenRise, this little corner of the internet dedicated to all things poultry.

Now, I bet you’re wondering how a city slicker like me ended up knee-deep in feathers and clucking chaos:

Well, grab a seat and let me spin you a yarn about my journey into the wild and wonderful world of raising chickens.

It all started one lazy Sunday afternoon when my wife, bless her heart, decided we needed to live the farm life in our suburban backyard.

“Chickens,” she declared, “we need chickens!”

Now, I’m no stranger to a hard day’s work, but the closest I’d been to a chicken was a rotisserie aisle at the grocery store.

Nevertheless, being the supportive spouse that I am, I found myself at the local feed store, staring wide-eyed at rows of fuzzy little chicks.

And that’s when it hit me – I was about to become a chicken dad.

Fast forward to the chaotic first days with our feathered friends.

Little did I know that chickens have personalities as varied as a box of chocolates.

There was Houdini, the escape artist who could give Harry himself a run for his money.

Then there was Sir Clucks-a-Lot, a rooster with a penchant for serenading the neighborhood at dawn.

Oh, and we can’t forget Henrietta, the drama queen of the coop who managed to turn every dust bath into a Shakespearean tragedy.

As I navigated the ups and downs of chicken parenthood, I quickly realized there was a lot more to it than just tossing some feed in a trough and collecting eggs.

These feathered fluffballs had quirks, preferences, and, believe it or not, a sense of humor. Yep, you heard me right – chickens with a sense of humor.

Picture this: I’m out in the yard, attempting to teach the chickens some advanced tricks (because, you know, apparently, that’s a thing).

I swear, one of those hens gave me a side-eye that could rival any stand-up comedian. It was like she was saying, “Listen, buddy, I’m not here for your amusement.

I’m here for the treats, and if you want me to dance, you better up the snack game.”

But amidst the laughter and occasional feathers flying, I fell head over heels for my feathery companions.

They became more than just egg-laying machines; they became a source of joy, entertainment, and a surprising sense of connection to the rhythms of nature.

Now, as I share my chicken-raising adventures with you through this blog, my goal is to sprinkle a bit of humor and a whole lot of practical advice into your own journey.

Whether you’re a seasoned farmer or a city slicker like I was, there’s always something new to discover in the world of chickens.
