Tell it about the bird — hen or tom, what colour, what it is like — and pick the kind of name you want: a pun, an old-fashioned name, something cute, or a name with some swagger. Twelve names at a time, every one written for turkeys and none borrowed from the chicken or duck lists, and a new twelve whenever you ask. Naming a whole flock? Ask for a themed set.
Names for a turkey
Turkey Lurkey
Not many names fit all of that, so a few from the other styles are mixed in.
Tap a name to copy it. Written for Chicken Rise — no name here is a holiday dish, a food the site tells you never to feed, or a poisonous plant.
Quick answer: a good turkey name fits the turkey. The tom who fans his tail at every visitor has earned Sir Gobblesworth or Strutty McStrutface; a Bourbon Red hen is a Scarlett or a Russet; the Royal Palm tom who always looks dressed for a wedding is Tuxedo Tom. Tell this generator hen or tom, what colour and what it is like, pick the kind of name you want — a pun, an old-fashioned name, something cute or something mighty — and it gives you twelve. Ask again for twelve more.
A turkey is somebody’s pet here
Most of the turkey names online are jokes about the table. You won’t find those on this page: no Drumstick, no Gravy, no Wishbone, nothing that sounds like a holiday menu. The turkeys people name are the ones that follow them round the yard, and the names here are written for those birds — and for the kids who will shout them across it. None is borrowed from our chicken or duck name generators.
Four kinds of name, kept apart
- Funny — the puns: Gobbledygook, Snood Dogg, Wattle Disney, Poultergeist, Gobi Wan Kenobi. For a tom, Tom Foolery, Tom Jones or Jake Gobblenhaal (a young tom is a jake); for a hen, Jenny from the Block (a young hen is a jenny) or the Duchess of Wattleshire.
- Classic — old-fashioned names that suit a bird that walks like a dowager: Temperance, Araminta, Clementina and Evangeline; Bartholomew, Thaddeus, Obadiah or Ebenezer for a tom.
- Cute — Wobbles, Snoodle, Pipkin, Bobbin, Tumble. Good for poults and the smaller Midget Whites.
- Mighty — Colossus, Cyclone, Monarch; Boudica, Hippolyta or Zenobia for the hen who runs the yard; Genghis, Tamerlane or Beowulf for a tom.
Pick “a mix” and you get all four together. A colour name is only offered for that colour — no Lady Frost for a Black Spanish, no Darth Gobbler for a Broad Breasted White — and a name that suits the bird’s personality goes to the top.
Naming a whole flock
Turkeys are rarely kept alone. Choose “a themed set” and you get names that belong together: the Three Tenors for three toms who gobble in harmony, the Polar Explorers for the ones always over the fence, the Round Table, the Impressionists, or Autumn Woods — Maple, Hickory, Birch and Sycamore — for a flock that likes a high perch. A set makes the next bird easy to name.

Keeping chickens and ducks too? The chicken name generator and the duck name generator work the same way, and every name on all three lists is different. If you’re hatching poults, the incubation planner covers turkey eggs.
